About VARKALA.

Varkala beach is a serene quiet sea resort that is rich in mineral water springs. It is the only place in southern Kerala where cliffs are found adjacent to the Arabian Sea. The quiet and secluded Varkala Beach is a haven for sunbathing and swimming. The evening views of the sunset are worth witnessing. It has several places of tourist interests like a beautiful beach, a 2000-year-old Vishnu Temple and the ashram - Sivagiri Mutt a little distance from the beach. The hilltop mausoleum of Sree Narayana Guru is one of the most famous monuments in Kerala

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES AND SIGHTSEEING

  • PAPANASAM BEACH:

    Papanasam is one of the prominent beaches in Varkala. Absence of touristy crowd is an important feature in the beaches of Varkala. Sleep, swim or laze around - you are sure to have an uninterrupted leisure.

  • CHILAKKOOR BEACH:

    Chilakkoor Beach is near to the Varkala town. It is an ideal place for sunset viewing.

  • REJUVENATION:

    Varkala is famous for yoga and body massages centre for relaxation and rejuvenation

  • JANARDHANA TEMPLE:

    Built sometime in 12th century, the Janardana Temple is another important tourist attraction in Varkala. The original temple, a Vishnu shrine, was destroyed by the tidal waves. Many years past, when a Pandyan king did penance to Lord Brahma, was instructed to rebuild the temple. Non-Hindus are not allowed to enter the inner sanctum sanctorum.
